Step 1: Determine Where You’ll Use It
Consider the environment first:
- Storefront and sidewalk advertising: Prioritize strong eye-level visibility and a base designed for concrete surfaces.
- Grand openings and retail promotions: Choose larger sizes with premium print quality for maximum impact.
- Festivals, outdoor markets, and sporting events: Grass or dirt setups typically require a ground stake.
- Piers, marinas, and waterfront areas: Open, windy locations need a heavier base for stability.
- Indoor conventions and trade shows: Use a cross base and select size based on ceiling height and booth space.
Quick rule: Choose the location and base first, then finalize size and print options.

Step 2: Choose your flag size Image
Pick a size based on viewing distance and space:
- Small (8–9 ft) – sidewalks, indoor events, entrance markers
- Medium (10–11 ft) – most popular for storefronts and curb appeal
- Large (12–14 ft) – wide open areas needing maximum visibility (piers, parking lots, festivals)
Rule of thumb: If people view you from across a street or open area, go Medium or Large.

Step 3: Single or Double-Sided
Pick a size based on viewing distance and space:
- Single-sided: Design shows through slightly on the back. Budget-friendly and common.
- Double-sided: Two prints sewn together with a blocker layer so the design reads correctly on both sides.
Go double-sided when: People approach from both directions (roads, entrances, walkways).

Step 4: Select Your Material
Standard Teardrop Flag (3-layer build) | Premium Silverback Teardrop Flag (2-layer build) |
Thicker, slightly heavier feel that naturally blocks some show-through due to thickness. Great for bold/simple designs | More lightweight, flies smoother in light wind, and offers higher definition print clarity with sharper details. Best for gradients, photos, fine text, & detailed logos. |
Step 5: Choose the right base
Match your base to the surface:
- Ground Stake: grass, dirt, sand
- Cross Base: concrete or indoor floors
- Water Bag Add-On: extra stability for breezy areas
- Heavy Duty Base: windy, open environments (piers, marinas, parking lots)
Tip: For waterfront/piers, always pair a sturdy base with a water bag or heavy-duty option.
